CJ Wilson pitched for the Rangers and the Angels over the course of 12 years before shoulder surgery, in 2015, ended his career — at least in baseball. Wilson has long been a motorsports superfan and, after his time on the mound, he decided to make a go of it as a pro race car driver.

The two disciplines aren’t as different as you might think: “As a pitcher, generally, faster is better,” he’s said. “It’s kind of like driving, and at the same time it’s also about control.”
