NYCC 2013 is upon us, and, as ever, cosplayers from across the country are descending on the Javits Center decked out in some of the craziest costumes you can imagine. Yesterday being a Friday and only the Con’s first big day for fans, you can guess that it took only the most dedicated to make an appearance. You’re only partly right; thousands of extremely dedicated comic and anime lovers showed up to show off. Courtesy of Ford and the Fiesta Movement, here's a look at some of the impressive cosplayers from the convention.

The Avengers were obviously on the floor. Including Wolverine. I like to think Nick Fury is exactly the kind of guy who can keep Logan in line.

Superman and Wonder Woman continue to be the power couple at the top of most (if not all) superhero lists.

Victorian Vaporeon was one of our favorites of the show. The tiny Pokeball was a great accent, but what you don't see is a complete tail sewn into the costume. Stunning.

Up top is Juliet Starling of Lollipop Chainsaw, repping the San Romero Knights and preparing to take down a few zombies. The look is about as stylish as you can get.

Canti from FLCL showed up (bashful as ever), and was a welcome surprise for those of us who might've forgotten how good FLCL was. Medical Mechanica would be proud.

Here's Black Cat and the original Scarlet Spider (RIP Ben Reilly, sorry Kaine) mugging for the camera. All things considered, I think they would've made a fine pair, don't you?

There were a couple of Doc Ocks in attendance, but this guy's costume took the prize. The lights and the torn Spidey mask really made it stand out.

Gender-swap Chell from Portal is brilliant mostly because I know full well how hard it must have been to pick up that 1:1 replica Portal Gun. This kid is a dedicated fan.

With Matt Smith almost out as the Eleventh Doctor, it was great to see Who fans in full force this year. This fully-realized Cyberman was one of the first cosplayers we saw on our way to the convention floor, and was done so perfectly.

Destiny, Death, and Dream of the Endless took a moment to pose for us here. We had a quick chat with them to ask where the rest of the family were hiding. While Delirium was well on her way, Desire and Despair wouldn't have any part of the fun. Destruction abandoned his post long ago, so he wasn't expected to join. Too bad.

Seeing Cloud from FFVII: Advent Children was a treat. This guy had everything down, but Cloud never really smiled so much. Still, you have to give it to him.
