Do you have friends? Do you have an apartment? If so, that’s amazing! But why aren’t your friends hanging out at your apartment? Is it because you don’t feel like you’ve put any effort into decor? Oh, wait — I’m having this conversation with myself, aren’t I?
Okay, I admit it, I need to figure out my decor situation. This is a pretty common problem. Some of us just weren’t born with the gift of instantly knowing what should go where (if, in fact, anyone was born with that gift). So I’ve consulted with some decor-savvy friends and found some nifty items at The Home Depot that will work in my place, and come with enough universal appeal that maybe they’ll work for yours, too. All right, let’s get decorating!
A Swanky Serving Cart
If you have guests, you’re going to need refreshments. And if you have refreshments, you’re going to need something to put ‘em on. Voila! This serving cart does the trick, and has a minimalist fancy-hotel look that I love.
A Squid Throw Pillow
Is it a squid? Is it an octopus? Somebody will probably tell me in the comments. All I know is, it looks unique and hipstery, and is exactly the kind of thing that will get guests asking where you got it. And isn’t that what all throw pillows should do?
Antique-Looking Bottles
Who knows what liniments, potions, and tinctures these weathered bottles once held? Well, I know. They’ve always been empty. But they seem like something you’d find in a medieval alchemist’s shop. Anything that looks like it has a story behind it will instantly make your room look more interesting.
A Photo-rific Room Divider
This room divider is a great opportunity to show off your creativity. Slide in 15 photos, and now you have 15 conversation starters showcased front-and-center in your space. Any guests will now bear witness to the fact that you have a busy life bursting at the seams with friends and excitement. (As long as you take the right kind of photos.)
Some Cool Candle Sconces
Candle sconces? Candle sconces! These candle sconces are the perfect sconces in which to stash some candles. I guess that’s why they call them “candle sconces.” Look, I like the phrase “candle sconces,” okay? And I like how they make it seem like you’ve put some thought into setting the mood with the friendly, flattering light of tiny flames.
Thirsty for more home decor upgrades? You’re in luck! There are all kinds of other options on sale right now at The Home Depot, like furniture special buys at 40% off, 50% off towels, and 70% off bedding, so dive in and see what you can find. Do you have any suggestions for more stuff I might like, or items that have worked in your home? Let me know in the comments!
